I’m always looking for new eyeshadows to try out, and when I checked out the ColourPop website and saw that they were having a sale where you got a free small palette (empty) when you bought four of the pressed shadows, I decided to try them out. I also got an email with a free shadow coupon code for first time buyers, so I decided to split my purchase into two parts (because you can only use one coupon/special offer per transaction) and check out whether ColourPop’s shadows are as awesome as I’ve heard they are!

I bought four of the pressed shadows (which pop right into the palette once you un-pack them) and also four of the super shock shadows (getting one free with my coupon code). Turn around time on these was SUPER FAST. I ordered my shadows on June 20th and received them in the mail on June 23rd! Shipping cost $4.99 per order, but if you order $30 or more in product your shipping is free (I think it’s $50+ for free international shipping), so I’ll definitely be taking advantage of that in the future.
The four super shock colors I purchased are Ibiza (a gorgeous turquoise), two glittery shades called Birthday Girl and Cheap Date, and a “last call” satin gold shadow called Jinxie, which I’m sad to see being discontinued because it turned out to be my favorite of the super shock shadows.

IBIZA
The formula for the super shock shadows is so wildly different from any other shadow I’ve tried so far. They’re very springy (if you press your finger into them, you will leave a dent), but they apply like a dream. Very soft and very pigmented.
Ibiza is a pearlized shadow, and I like that it’s a “shock” of color but you can also blend it out into a softer shade or build it to its maximum intensity!
I tried to take pictures of the swatches of all of these shadows in different light so you could see how they look (sorry Ibiza is so blurry!).

BIRTHDAY GIRL
Birthday Girl is a glittery golden pink shade, almost a rose gold on my skin. It and Cheap Date are VERY glittery, and there’s a bit of fall-out, so if having glitter everywhere isn’t your thing, maybe skip this one or invest in a very good eyeshadow primer.
This is my least favorite of the shock shadows, but I still really like it. It’s a nice neutral color that will compliment a lot of different looks.

CHEAP DATE
Cheap Date is a true gold with lots of glitter. I think it will be a great shade for summer and help me achieve that golden glow that otherwise eludes me.
As you can see, this is basically just pure golden glitter. It’s a lot of fun and I can’t wait to try it out in a complete look.

JINXIE
Jinxie is yet another golden color (I think I am just gold-obsessed right now) but much softer with a satiny finish.
It still shimmers, but it’s much more subdued than Cheap Date. I’m sad to see that this is a discontinued color because I love how it looks and applies, but I’m also glad I decided to snatch it up before it’s gone forever.
The four other shadows I purchased were pressed-powder shadows, and thanks to a special offer (that’s still going on, so check it out!) I got a free four-pan palette to store them in (pressed-powder shadows don’t come in their own individual holders like the shock shadows do).

The four shadows I put in this palette are (from left to right): Play By Play, Save It For Later, Come And Get It, and Up And Up.
The first color, Play By Play, is a gorgeous duo-chrome that is golden and peachy with a hint of green.

It’s the only one of these four that I took an individual picture of because I wanted to really show the green tint amidst all that peach and gold.
The second shade, Save It For Later, is a metallic amber that would probably look shinier in the pictures if it wasn’t next to Play By Play, haha.
The third shade, Come And Get It, is a rosy color with hints of gold. I think it looks much pinker on me than it does on the model on the website, but that’s just how my skin tone works. It’s buildable to a darker rose color.
The fourth and final shade, Up And Up, is a gorgeous green shade. It’s supposed to be a duo-chrome (all of the pressed-powder shadows I bought with the exception of Save It For Later are supposed to be duo-chromes) and I can sort of see it turn teal in direct sunlight, but I’m perfectly happy with that beautiful green shade and I kinda like that it isn’t as flashy as Play By Play.
So those were my first ColourPop shadows and I must say I’m very impressed with them so far! Definitely give them a try if you’re looking for great quality eyeshadow at a very affordable price (none of these shadows cost more than $5 a piece).
